Hi folks,

I could really use a hand. I've been sucessfully running RH 5.0 om my
laptop at work.....networked, PCMCIA Zip support and all. It's been great.

I tried to install it on my desktop machine today and got *nowhere*.

Hardware:

PII-300
128 Meg SDRAM
Plextor SCSI CD-ROM ID=3)
Ricoh CDR (ID=0)
Adaptec 2910b (recognized as a 2940)
SCSI ZIP
SCSI Jaz
SCSI Scanner
2 IBM HDD.....6.4 meg with 4 Meg for Win95 and 2.4 left for Linux
2.1 meg for scratch video work

Everything works in DOS and Win95.

Scenario:

All peripherals are *on*, I boot off the floppy and the install picks up
the controller as a 2940, usually takes a few tries to get the SCSI cdrom
(and only the Ricoh..probably because it's SCSI ID is first) and everything
starts out OK. It recognizes both disk drives and the ZIP and the Jaz.
I'm installing on an extended partition of the first (6.4 HDD). I
partition with fdisk and when I try to write the partition (option"w") it
says it can't read and that I should reboot making sure that there are
disks in the Jaz and ZIP drives.

When I do this I get all the way to the point where it scans the drives
"Scanning Hard Drives" (presumably to get the partition info) and the
install blows up with a "Signal 11 received"...system shut down, etc.

I have subsequently tried multiple permutations....terminating the chain on
the scanner (so no Jaz or Zip seen), etc...everything I can think of and I
get no further.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

regards,

 Jil
