I have a similar setup. Let me see if I understand you correctly. Your
system does not detect the second Ethernet card. I had to add the
following line to the append statement of the lilo.conf;
ether=10,0x300,eth1
Then after the next reboot, I did the standard ifconfig eth1 xx.xx.xx.xx.
I also had to set the default route to my eth1 since that is the card
going to the cable modem. I think there is a mini-howto on this as well.
