Yep, I got a notice from IBM Australia's WA distributor around that time
giving serial numbers of drives in a certain batch which could be swapped
for free.

Apparently there was something wrong with the circuitry, causing the
interface to fail.

Come to think of it, it could have been earlier than June. I actually just
today tried to find the original e-mail but couldn't, and I keep them
usually for quite a while. It was my intention to post it to the list for
you guys with IBM drives (from memory it was the 60s and 80s with the
problem).

The reason I didn't keep it is because I switched to WD a long time ago and
haven't looked back. Poor excuse I know. Maybe google still may have
something?

Sorry about that. Will keep that stuff on my WD 120JB in the future lol.
