Yep, I got a notice from IBM Australia's WA distributor around that time giving serial numbers of drives in a certain batch which could be swapped for free. Apparently there was something wrong with the circuitry, causing the interface to fail. Come to think of it, it could have been earlier than June. I actually just today tried to find the original e-mail but couldn't, and I keep them usually for quite a while. It was my intention to post it to the list for you guys with IBM drives (from memory it was the 60s and 80s with the problem). The reason I didn't keep it is because I switched to WD a long time ago and haven't looked back. Poor excuse I know. Maybe google still may have something? Sorry about that. Will keep that stuff on my WD 120JB in the future lol.
