Not, dumb, incompetent. In all regards, I consider my 5.0.11 driver
superior to the Adaptec supplied drivers for NT, SCO Unix, and other
platforms. I may have problems with certain devices that appear to be
timing related on certain systems, but in most regards, the linux aic7xxx
driver is a more capable, faster, more flexible driver than the Adaptec
supplied drivers. If you ever get a chance, take a look at the driver
notes in the SCO Unix Adaptec driver to see what I'm talking about (aka,
look in /etc/conf/sdevices.d/arad or something like that and check out the
header file that ships with their driver module).
