Hi!

I'm a student working my assignment on Linux and so
far I have a great time.. thanks to you guys! I need
to compile and test new kernels as an exercise.
However, for some damn reason when I compile the new
kernel using my basic config. or other configs. the
new kernel fails to boot!
I have not yet brought * ANY * changes to the kernel
yet... I just tried to test the compilation process of
the kernel sources (installed from the Linux CD and on
my HDD). The stages of 'make config' (using xconfig,
oldconfig, config),'make dep', ' make bzImage'and then
a 'make bzdisk' works fine. But when the machine
reboots from this disk, the kernel uncompresses
successfully and then when it reaches the 'Press I for
ineractive startup' everything freezes!
And when I boot using my original boot diskette,
everything's fine again! Can you PLEASE HELP ME and
tell me what to do! Thank you!
