To be sure I installed all the relevant outputs from the build process which 
means I got the new g++ and its libraries.

However, it certainly didn't break KDE or Qt - I have used KDE or GNOME almost 
exclusively since they appeared in the distribution (as opposed to an 
attachment), and KDE far more than GNOME.


I didn't have any problems on RHL 5.0 (gcc 2.7.2 to egcs to gcc 2.95) either, 
though I don't know that there's much C++ stuff there.
