Al Viro is a core kernel developer, sorry.. I'm so used to
seeing the names that I assume everyone knows all the main Linux
developers names.

I'll take your word for it. My comment was based only on a
discussion from about a year ago on linux-kernel.

Beats me.. I think such code belongs in userland apps, not in
kernel land as it presents serious problems from what I
understand.
