Hi,
After having recompiled the Kernel, I have noted that the Xinetd service doesn't
works well:
[root@nirvana neugens]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart
Stopping xinetd: [FAILED]
Starting xinetd: [ OK ]
Situation on the startup and shutdown are the same.
The problem with the lpd is the same:
[root@nirvana neugens]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/lpd restart
Stopping lpd: [FAILED]
Starting lpd: [ OK ]
I have found an error message like that:
Starting lpd: 2000-10-13-15:47:16.042 nirvana Get_local_host: 'localhost' IP
address not available!
Note that I have changed my host name, but the service doesn't start even with
the old name.
It is the second time I post that error on the list, does anyone have the
solution?
And about the xinetd? I think the problem is on taking the host name, if so the
problem in the glibc is not fixed.
Or maybe some problem in the lpd package.
I have used the cups, it seems to work, but I don't know how to configure a
printer without the printtool.
Bye
