We add patches to add features, increase stablity, increase
performance and add features ;).
We fix the kernels by applying selected patches from the development
of the next 2.2.x kernels, we fix bugs reported to us and showing up
during QA, we add drivers. We have a big group of people doing active
development on the kernel (Alan Cox, Stephen Tweedie, Ingo Molnar and
many more) and extensive QA-tests of the kernel - I would feel more
confident with a kernel from a Red Hat distribution than with a stock
kernel.
