It's much easier on beginners than the commandline;-)

In principle, nothing. However, I do recall being able to see what assorted 
packages do, making some selections and then installing all those selections.

I see its greatest use being soon post-install when you're seeing what you 
might have installed if you'd known more. I find choosing packages at 
install-time a very time-consuming and frustrating process, I prefer to get 
the known essentials installed (without lots of stuff I don't want) and get on 
with using the system.

Mind you, I think too much is better than two little; if it's installed, 
there's a rough chance I will find it.

With glint, there was a good chance I could find it post-install, even if it 
wasn't installed. I've never managed to get gnorpm to be so helpful.
