Linux and Mysql related question

Hi,   I would like to ask your opinition about this:   http://www.mysql.com/documentation/mysql/full/manual_Problems.html#Communication_errors   It says that it might be related with Linux Ethernet drivers and describes a way of telling whether it is true with my drivers or no   Is what they say true?   Is there another way to tell if I have this problem?   Any help would be highly appreciated.   Yannis.
