eth0 was not the default route.

Mandrake 6 was the one that came free with a book, and don't suggest
downloading it, as we have noisy phone lines, which make our connecion speed
around 14400, even though we have a 56k modem.

That's because all my settings are still under outlook. (And because pine
doesn't support multiple accounts under the same username, and no POP
support at all (that I have discovered so far.) )
