Can I recommend actually looking at the man page before blasting..  from
the rpm manpage on a Red Hat 6.1 + updates box (rpm 3.0.3-2)
       --force
              Same as using  --replacepkgs,  --replacefiles,  and
              --oldpackage.

Okay, not all of the macros are in the man page, but there are a ton of
macros and I think that /usr/lib/rpm/macros is relatively good
documentation on them.   The man page is already frighteningly long to
someone new to rpm and making it longer isn't going to help matters at
all.
