Hi.
I am trying to customize the installer that comes with rh6.2
There was a lot of talk about this last year (from late aug to early
sept) and I pieced together a general idea of what has to be done. But
because it is so sparsely documented and also because the original
HOW-to that emerged from the previous discussions was lost (according to
the author of the HowTo), I do not know what i am doing wrong.

The pieces of the puzzle i have put together from the old discussions
are (dont know whether these steps are correct because they were talking
about the old installer):

1. Changed the files in misc/src/anaconda/ (stuff like changing the text
on the startup screen stuff that the installer displays in the dialogs)
Nothing special.
 2. Ran "make" followed by "make install" in the anaconda directory
 3. Moved to misc/src/trees and removed all .img files (otherwise
mkinitrd refuses to make any new ones) ran mkinitrd
 4. Ran mkstage2
 5. Ran updboots $REDHATDIR $REDHATDIR/RPMS/ 2.2.12-20
 6. Ran mkboot inside misc/src/trees
 7. dd 'd the new images/bootnet.img to /mnt/fd0

And booted form the disk.
But the changes don't appear.
So I am doing something wrong. But what?

Also, does anyone know if this "Installer howto" still exists somewhere?

I apologize beforehand if this seems like deja vu but any help would be
greatly appreciated.

thanks,
-atul
