Of course, spam is evil. But don't be a vigilante! Because of the totally unauthenticated nature of e-mail, it is usually impossible to be certain of the perpetrator. Received: lines can be faked just like nearly every other byte in an e-mail message. I was much more the victim of spam than any of its recipients when a spammer forged my domain name as the return address on the From: line. - Stephen P.
