I agree, however I'll also add in that you should backup your
/etc/ heirarchy and possibly other important stuff first, and
then switch into single user mode.
After the rpm -Fvh finishes, make sure you check lilo.conf, and
set your kernel straight, running lilo again if necessary.
My upgrade from 6.0 to 6.1 hosed several files in etc, and RPM
did *NOT* back up my originals with .rpmsave extensions. I had
to recreate my lilo.conf and a few other files...
rpm -F is the easiest way to upgrade, then run "purp" or
something like it to scan the new goodies and pick and choose
what you want..
