This isn't one of those times. This is a matter of adding a single
command to interoperate well with other operating systems. It's just
like having zip, arj, lha, etc.
_Blindly_ following Unix ways can be a problem. But a lot of people
are using Linux together with other Unices, or in place of Unix.
There's no need to abandon everything Unix to make it usable by new
markets. If we do that, it may no longer work where it serves well
now.
