Albert:

The Contrib area contains packages that were not built by redhat, and are
not 100% guaranteed to interoperate with the rest of the system. It might
be that the person who packaged that copy of 8.0p2 didn't include a certain
library or command that is neccessary for something else to run (in this
case, tcl_findLibrary), or maybe even included it but misconfigured a file
that was neccessary to finding that functionality. From what I know, that
8.0p2 package was for when Red Hat only came with version 7, and people
wanted version 8 (it was placed there on March 28, 1998 afterall) to play
with. My suggestion (as if anyone REALLY wants to listen to me ;>) is to
just upgrade to the other packages you have and call it a day (especially
since they are a newer version of TCL anyway). Personally, I wouldn't use
any of the packages from the Contrib area that would replace ones that
already came with Red Hat unless I had a need for a feature that came with
that package (which is often the reason people contribute them in the first
place).

Sincerely,
Jay Freeman (saurik)
