I have glibc-devel-2.0.7-29 and glibc-2.0.7-29 on a system that was once 
5.0; updates since then have bene piecemeal and intended mainly to get me 
to a 2.2 kernel.

You can freely install RHL 5.2 rpms on the system; in some cases you may 
need some others to meet prerequisites.
