ENGLISH PEA AND ASPARAGUS CASSEROLE

 

   1/4 pound butter or oleo (divided)

   3 tablespoons flour

   1/2 cup milk

   Salt and pepper

   1 (5 ounce) jar kraft sharp cheese spread

   1 (7 ounces) sliced mushrooms

   1 can cut asparagus

   1 can tiny peas

   1 1/2 cups fine bread crumbs

 

    Sauce:    4 tablespoons butter, 3 tablespoons flour, 1/2 cup milk, salt and 
pepper. Cook sauce until thick. Add cheese and mushrooms and stir until

melted. Butter 8x10 oblong pan. Spread asparagus on bottom. Add peas and 1/2 of 
bread crumbs, which have been mixed with 4 tablespoons melted butter. Add

mushroom sauce, and top with bread crumbs. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes 
or until bubbly.
