With a barrel connection do you need to crimp?
The ferrules I’ve used are so soft they deform easily in the connection for large sizes.

Pin adapters. Crimp on your fine strand and gives you a nice solid. Here is an example:

Otherwise you need to get proper ferrule crimpers to do the big size ferrules. Something like this:
(interestingly, the above company does have cheap pin adapters as well. Perfect for going with cheap inverters?)

Friends:

More inverters these days present lugs for battery connections instead of studs. I bought some 2/0 and 4/0 ferrules to accommodate the fine stranded MTW we use. I have a cheap hex crimper but the results are poor with a sharp “wing” on either side of the crimp.

What does the hive mind suggest for a ferrule and crimper for these larger wire sizes?

Thanks in advance.
