Jay,

You caught me at a "good" time as I have 2, 2 volt 1788 Ahr batteries failing.  This is the third and fourth (EXPENSIVE) cell I may have to replace in this 48 volt pack in just 9 years, I was expecting twice the life.

Anyway, there is a variety of ways to discover cells that are failing but the way I usually find them is watching SGs. A month or so ago I noticed these two cells not keeping up with the rest of the pack so of course I bumped up voltage and time, equalized, prayed, swore....nothing worked, they would not come back.  When this happened in the past I actually built a "2 volt" solar panel that had a Voc of about 3.5 volts and amps at about 8, which didn't work out I think partly because to do what has to be done power has to be applied 24/7 for days.

So my latest is this: https://www.amazon.com/Converter-DROK-Adjustable-Regulator-Transformer/dp/B08LPVWX74/ref=pd_sbs_2/147-8705530-5096213?pd_rd_w=0WaS8&pf_rd_p=0a3ad226-8a77-4898-9a99-63ffeb1aef90&pf_rd_r=VMM54F7M6J97FKVG1YTX&pd_rd_r=4ab68b46-8cc1-42b0-8a6e-720dd301e136&pd_rd_wg=6t80O&pd_rd_i=B08LPVWX74&psc=1

for the input side I used a couple 12 volt/50 Ahr AGMs which I would switch out and charge back up twice a day to keep the boost going to the 2V cell.  It took about 4-5-6 days but I got the SGs back up to 1.260 on both cells.  I kept the cells in service during this process, but may have been quicker if I pulled them out one at a time though the pack was not being pulled down below 80% SOC for 2 of these days during this 'boost' period.  I'm not sure if this is going to work as the SGs may drift back down. If it was sulphation, it may work.  If it is something else, I may be going to L-ion.

Hi all

What recommendations do folks have for a 2v battery charger.
It’s for 2v lead acid cells, preferably looking for something that’s adjustable
to the specific battery chemistry.

Higher amps also preferred as the 2v cells are usually pretty large. 10 amps
would work but higher probably better

I’ve looked around but haven’t found anything.

Thanks

Jay
