Well, perhaps I was on track anyway….you can use the same method (flip every other battery) if you are using a battery with 2 terminals per pole (like Lifeline).

The way I wire them is to place them side by side and flip every other battery 180°. Then you can use a interconnect cable without tight bends. I attached a diagram as it is easier to see than to describe.
