Hiya John, If this is something you need inspected and if you are using an inverter which has a voltage controlled AUX relay, dump ac into a very small cube heater using the AUX to turn a larger relay on and off. I would certainly recommend a solid state "hockey puck" relay rated for DC as some of those AUX controls will switch on and off quickly creating a PWM effect. I hate to admit to this in public, but I found an ideal 3C (Cheap Chinese Crap) cube heater in Walmart which as a 200W setting. Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do... If you don't need UL and want to roll yer own, it would be good to know just how many amps you are dumping and at what voltage. Assuming abut 55.2V (13.8V x 4) and further assuming that you need a full 150W dumped, that would mean your hydro was putting out about 2.73A@55.2V. That, in turn, gives us a resistance value of about 20Ω. Good old ohm's law... You'll want to us a PWM controller such as a C-40. Then the trick is in finding the right resistor or (far more likely) combo of power resistors of the right ohm value to handle the wattage. Kinda hard to find these days.
