At the risk of sounding like a broken record: I have ridden my Bleriot 6 times in the past 2 weeks in the Maryland, DC, Virginia area. I have not ridden on icy roads but otherwise, I don't worry about the residual salt - and yes there's definitely lots of roads that are now white due to being salted, where they used to be black tarmac. Wipe the bike down after a ride. That's it. The Bleriot has been ridden through the past 7 winters in this area, and even in mild winters, there have been days with icy roads when the salt trucks are out and then there's residue.

The frame is fine, and the components are all in fine working order and are original. Except for the chain, replaced at about the 4,000 mile mark.

I suggest: Just Ride.....then Just Wipe Down, 5 minutes is all that takes.

Note: the wipe-down process is simplified if you have fenders on the bike.
