Now Tom, those are plastic fenders :) These racks have an optional metal tab that extend off the front that bolts behind the brake, kinda tricky to install with certain brakes, eric did a good job. i have one of these racks with metal fenders, in that case there is a spot to bolt the rack to the fender instead--of course then you have to get it a little lower
