Your situation is similar to mine. I own a 2010 Salsa El Mariachi 29'er. 
Fully rigid, 1x9 w/ disc brakes. The problem is that the frame (18") is too 
small for me. I have a set back post and longer stem but still feel 
cramped. I picked up a set of Riv Bullmoose bars off this list a while back 
for another project. That project never happened, so I go to 
thinking....that is usally when the trouble starts.
