David, yes, it did turn into a Hunqapillar party! We got stumped, rooted
around, and rocked the day away.

To piggyback on Mike's confirmation that I ride barefoot as much as
possible, we passed a young family on the way out and the girl, about 7,
announced to her parents after I'd passed, "He's a hobbit!" At first I was
puzzled such a young girl would be reading The Hobbit or LoTR, then
remembered the films are out, though rubbish.

As folks stared in amazement and sometimes exclaimed "Awesome!" and the
like, I was left to wonder if we really look THAT decrepit that is amazing
we're doing this, or if steel bikes are really that hard to do this on in
people's minds, or if they were seeing the bare feet that easily. Possibly
an overall Gestalt effect. But Mike was right, it was amusing.

No worries, Hugh, though we expect you'll make the commute next round. Grin.

With abandon,
Patrick
