Brooks tape, in my opinion, is well worth the $. I used black Brooks tape to wrap the bars of my Bob Brown custom back in the fall of 2007. That tape is still on my bike - enduring over 10,000 miles of riding as well as my winter "rides" on the trainer in my basement.
