Use whatever works. I have to disagree with Grant when he says that top
tube length matters relatively little. One complaint I had about the Sam
Hill was that the size 56 had a 59 cm tt which, for me, was quite a bit too
long since my roads have a ~57 tt and even those require 8 cm stems. The
only way to get comfortable on the SH was to have the bar quite a bit
higher than I liked and I think that high bar -- 2-3" above saddle, IIRC
(tho' I may NRRC) contributed to the poor feel while climbing seated.

One reason I like the Fargo -- in many respects an undistinguished bike, by
my reference points -- is that it is a bike that can take (I think) 70s
having a road-ish 57 cm effective tt.

I was wholly tickled and pleased that the 58 cm Ram has the perfect 57 cm
tt (with the shorter reach Noodle a wee bit higher than the bars on the
other Rivs, I use a 9 cm stem).

Patrick Moore, wondering whether "cotton to" has anything to do with
gossypium or algodones, who just might ride to Algodones up the road toward
Santa Fe.
