I am also skeptical about dymano-powered iPhone charging. iPhones are not only picky, as Jim and Minh have mentioned, but they may get pickier over time. The Busch und Müller e-Werk + cache battery combo was supposed to charge iPhones (which it did at first) but Apple disabled it with a software update. Of course that doesn't matter if whatever you use charges your other device(s), e.g. camera or GPS, and charging the iPhone is not essential.
