Not relevant to the OP, but I have been wondering for a while why people 
usually go for high end racks like Nitto and Tubus.

I Axiom rack on my Sam seems perfect to me for just about anything. I 
generally use it for commuting, which is no big strain, but I have also 
used it for self supported touring and the occasional grocery run. 

It's this one:

$30 and it's rated for something like 150 lbs. Haven't tested that and 
don't intend to, but I have never had any problems with this rack.

Just wondering.
