Ron Lau did this conversion back during the first wave of 650b conversions
about 5 years ago. He was very enthusiastic about the outcome, which I paid
attention to due to having a 1996 A/R with 26ers. At the time I was a little
unhappy with it, but putting my favorite saddle on that bike and Pasela 26 x
1.25s made me happy enough that I never pursued the conversion. I think mine
would fit 650b x 38s with fenders...

The other reason I did not pursue the conversion was the very low-rake fork and
concerns about ending up with huge trail, but from Ron's ride reports this
wasn't very noticeably different.

I think that Ron's bike is still on the 650B conversion site.
