FWIW, I solved the problem of getting a wide and contoured mtb tripe fd to work with a Pro 5 Vis double by simply running the two rings in the "middle" and granny position. The Q of this crankset is so low that, even so set up and mounted on a custom Phil 145 (you read that correctly) bb, the overall Q was only 150 mm -- 1 whole cm less than the XD2-on-113-Phil on my current Fargo.
