That actually is what he wants to avoid. He is using a steering damper that 
mounts on the rear of the fork (see the picture in the original post). 
There are two ways to mount it. The small L bracket mounts easily to nutted 
brakes (see the picture in the original post). And a larger L bracket that 
I assume mounts on the front and then goes down below the fork crown and 
attaches to the spring. With his Daruma mounted fenders he won't be able to 
run the big L bracket and the fenders. 

What Gernot seems to be needing is a cheap alternative to the sheldon 
fender nut that he can get in Thailand (I believe that is correct)

I believe you could see about purchasing an m5 coupler and retap one side 
to m6.... I don't know if that will work though as it doesn't sound like it 
would have enough of the metal left... Sorry

Possible could weld a nut or two onto the recessed bolt...
