Just remembered Rodeo ("Roe-day-oh") Beach and wondered if there was a 
campground there, which took me to:

-- interesting options there.  I'm concerned that you will find that 
everything is booked, and camping "wild" turns out to be what's 
available.  Are you willing to ride dirt?  It gets flattish at the top of 
Bobcat Trail in the headlands, maybe rummage around a bit on google earth.  
I hope bicycles are still allowed in that area, better check with GGNRA so 
you don't get nailed just for being on a bike.
