I just add pedal spikes to my Grip Kings last week, and find that they work
well in keeping my feet on the pedals when encountering bumps in the road
or when it rains; and the pedals are just a comfortable as when they were
when I didn't have the spikes installed. And that's wearing either sandals,
sneakers, or bike shoes (without clips or SPDs). I still like wearing my
Ibex wool jersey and pants, but yesterday I rode to work in shorts (over my
wool pants for added comfort) and sneakers. It's a real plus not having to
carry a bunch of extra clothes and shoes for the office. And I agree,
having to slog around a coffee shop in clipped bike shoes is a drag.
