I share your appreciation for the now-extinct Shimano M770 XT hubs. They 
are light and tough and cheap and good, The LX group appears to be a 
European Trekking group, but it's available in the US as OEM (hubs and 
rder) on the Surly LHT, and a la carte through some offbeat distributors 
(i.e. not QBP). The current LX hubs are ok, but that last series of XT hubs 
were a completely different design that I liked much better.
