I used the term "cycling misfits" above in the most loving possible way. Almost every Riv owner or fan feels alienated from mainstream cycling in some way. Given the objective weirdness of mainstream cycling, being a misfit in this context is nothing to be ashamed of! You can categorize yourself based on how you don't fit in to the dominant cycling paradigms. I'm not going into specifics.
I always find it surprising that people in other places don't see more Rivs in the wild. I see several per week aside from my job. Minneapolis must be a hotbed of misfits!
