I'm a derailer snob. I prefer XT and Ultegra because..um..I just do. Not necessarily the current versions, though. Any old piece in nice condition will do. I've been looking for a mid-'90s 8-speed-era XT for a while now.
Yes, there's a current "normal pull" LX. I recently bought one from a trike rider who upgraded to XT. It's painted silver..I think Riv stocks it now. Joe Bernard Fairfield, CA.
