This is a bad list to ask this kind of question because lots of us still use deore stuff from the late 80's! or Suntour XC stuff even! that said, shimano is always trying to create more demand, i think the big reason for them creating/resurrecting the deore like was so that they could raise the price of the xt stuff :)
