Hudson Urban Bikes might be more Riv-ish than Bike Habitat - or a least more commuter and cargo bike oriented.
But BH is a pretty decent place. I took a 6 week bicycle mechanics class at Bike Habitat that was very educational. And whenever I stop by there with my Atlantis with moustache bars, it's gets admired in an appreciative way. They serve a broad constituency, but it's a decent LBS. And they'll generally do quick fixes and tweaks on the spot while you wait, whereas a lot of places in the city will want you to leave the bike for a couple days until they get to it. And BH's lead mechanic, Hal, is something of a local superstar in the NYC bicycling world. Always entertaining to talk with him.
