First off Ray, I'm sorry to hear that you got banged up. If you posted that,
I must have missed it in the whirl of work over the last couple months.

Aluminum cracks can progress quickly and let go suddenly. You need to feel
like you can trust your part.  For me, it isn't worth the mental tweaking if
you aren't sure.  I've had bikes clatter off the pavement, which disperses
energy, but if it really augered into something, you are probably looking at
replacement.

FWIW - this is what my noodles looked like after getting doored a back in
2009.

The right side was bent back and the right side was bent in - I think the
bike landed hard on the left side of the bar after the initial impact. I did
not reuse them. The right brake lever was crushed and unusable, but the left
one still works.  

Bars and crankarms are cheap relative to dental work and piece of mind.
