Thanks to all the fine people on this list for your support over the last three years. It is not a pleasant decision to close Renaissance Bicycles, but is the right decision for our family.
We will try to update the website by the end of the weekend with our remaining inventory. Of particular interest to this group are a 52cm Waterford Hillborne frameset, and a 54cm and 58cm Hunqa frameset. There are some Nitto racks, handlebars, Brooks saddles, and other Riv- ish items. We also have a complete 56cm double toptube Hillborne that was used as a "demo" bike – but we might just keep it for ourselves. Keep in mind that we are not "blowing out" the inventory; we would rather send the frames back to Rivendell and our other suppliers rather than discount their wonderful products; we have never agreed with the "online discounters" approach to business. We will use eBay to unload our random little parts that can't be sold otherwise. We will officially end the business before the end of the year. This simply makes sense from a business perspective. Most likely, we will simply absorb any unsold inventory into our personal assets and pay tax based on their value. That allows us to sell anything else off at our leisure. As mentioned in our blog update, we are especially grateful to Rivendell for all of their support. Grant, John, and the rest of the Gang have been exceedingly nice to our little business and we can't express how special Rivendell truly is, both in their attitude and highly ethical business practices. We do have a few more projects to finish, so there are a couple of unique bikes still to come out of the workshop.
