It does look nice, the green one that is. I am bummed that the 54cm frame I would ride doesn't have the extra diagonal tube, to me that makes the bike stand out. The other non Riv option ( sorry Grant) is the Fargo for this kinda riding. No beautiful lugs and disc brakes though. The new one's are white, but that can be fixed.
I sold my Sam H a week ago so I'm also trying to figure out a similar camping/exploring bike. I bought a Singular Gryphon but in stock form it has no fender/rack mounts. I had a local frame builder add upper rear rack mounts but I'll have to use a skewer attached lower rear mounts ( disc's are in the way) so it's only marginal for camping trips.
