Wow. I'm getting too old and poor and have too many dependents to
legitimately have that "that's what I want for Christmas!" feeling, but that
Riv Rain Kit is so coool. I remember when bike racer duds were really weird,
and were adopted because we thought that form had to follow function, but
soon, fashion caught up with us early adopters. Stumbling around the food
coop in rigid cleated racer shoes. So much for form following function.

I did, and still do lots of riding in civilian clothes, whatever I have on.
But that kit will work. It's not for racers, maybe not for fast randonneurs,
but for the likes of me. At least as far back as I can remember the image of
putting on a rain cape as the dark and looming rain cloud approaches has
made sense. But I've never had one. Much cooler than my much too expensive
waterproof yet breathable and easily contaminated fabric fitted jacket. And
it's modular. Thunderstorms in summer in AZ means that rain isn't
necessarily cold, but on tour, after several hours, or down to the market in
the weather, easy on, easy off. Less sweat. Yeah, I have a beard, and look
like the guy in the picture and the cartoon character...
