I like the Hobo bag as sold by Rivendell and also the similar version
by the Acorn folks. I use one now with my drop bars and its just the
right size for most rides. Although a front rack with a nylon,
drawstring stuff sack and a Irish strap or two is the lightest way to
carry extra stuff. I'm going that route soon as I carry my heavy tools
and tube etc. in a home made burrito wrap so its on the bike at all
times. Most of the time I just need a place for a rain jacket, spare
shirt and socks so it seems pointless to have a carry method that is
heavier than the items being carried. A stuff sack can always expand
or contract and can easily be removed off the bike too. I have three
bags now that might be on the market. Hobo bag, Banana bag and a brand
new Carradice Nelson Longflap.
