So Beth, what about setting up the LL with 35s without fenders and just ride it on nice days when rain isn't predicted (cue laughtrack, Beth lives in Portland, OR). I've had a similar issue with my Rambouillet. Right now it is grudgingly sporting 32s and waiting for fenders. For the most part I've found 32s to work pretty well for me but there is something about 35s that seems a little better. I don't know maybe it's some of the stuff Grant mentioned in Tire Tips (http:// www.rivbike.com/article/components/tire_tips).
After looking at the pictures of your bikes, I say definitely set the LL up with drops and 35s without fenders.
