1/2" per foot. Wow. I was brought up by some pretty fastidious mechanics. I was taught in the early 80's 2000 miles or 1/8" per foot, whichever comes first. Perhaps that's the reason I have always stocked up on chains and have never replaced a cogset or chainring due to wear in my life.
