For the record, if this were to happen when I am around, I will stop
to help for sure.  It is part of being in a group ride, I was taught.

Once we dropped someone, approx. a mile, then we got yell at by the
leader for not waiting for the slow rider.   I broke a chain before,
without someone looking out for you, I would be stuck there in the
middle or nowhere for a while.  The group took turn to push me all the
way to a bike shop to replace a chain, that is group ride in my book.
